This Privacy Policy explains how ScarperPets ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit scarperpets.com or place an order, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

ScarperPets is operated by Marcus Valente, a sole trader based in 148 Miller Street, Inverness, IV2 3DL. For any data protection query, contact hello@scarperpets.com.

2. What we collect

  • Contact details you give us at checkout: name, email, delivery address, phone number
  • Order details: items purchased, order value, order history
  • Payment information — processed directly by our payment provider (e.g. Shopify Payments); we do not see or store your full card number
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, and on-site behaviour, via cookies and analytics tools
  • Marketing preferences, if you opt in to emails (e.g. via Klaviyo)

3. Why we use your data

  • To process and deliver your order, and handle any returns or support requests
  • To send order confirmations and shipping updates
  • To send marketing emails, only if you've opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time
  • To improve the Site and understand how it's used, via analytics
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations (e.g. record-keeping for HMRC)

4. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary data with: our fulfilment/supplier partners (to ship your order), our payment processor (to take payment), and our email marketing platform (only if you opt in). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. International transfers

Because our fulfilment partners operate internationally, some of your order data (name, address, order contents) may be transferred outside the UK/EEA to process shipping. We only work with partners who provide appropriate safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction data for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (currently 6 years under UK rules), and marketing data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data, or to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@scarperpets.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we handle your data.

8. Cookies

We use cookies for essential site function, analytics, and (if enabled) marketing/retargeting. You can control cookies through your browser settings; see our cookie banner for on-site preferences.
